4 Packing Tips for A Smoother Move

Marcus Henning • Nov 11, 2020

As you heard the word “moving”, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Are you getting excited about what will happen in your new environment? Or maybe you are worried about the things that will happen during the move? For many of us, they could feel both, and even more. While moving could mean a new beginning for you and your family, everyone needs to undergo the stress and discomfort of packing their things and move it to a new house.

Good thing we have some helpful tips when packing. You can use these tips when moving to San Tan Valley AZ so your move can be easier and smoother.

1. Secure the tape of your boxes.

Sealing your boxes is very important so you can secure your possessions and everything that you place inside it. When you shop for your packing supplies, find a packing tape that will properly keep your boxes closed. If you have known someone who has moved recently, ask about what kind of packing tapes he or she had used. You may think that packing tapes are the same, but this is not the case. So, you must be sure of what packing tape to get from your local store.
When packing, tape your box from top and bottom. For extra reinforcement, use your packing tape to wrap your box. For the pressure points, tape every edge of your boxes.

2. Determine the right size of your box.

For your heavy stuff, such as books, you must use small boxes to make sure that they are compact and to avoid damage with your boxes as you transport them from one place to another. You can use larger boxes for lighter items such as pillows and sheets. When choosing the right size of your box, check whether it will be hard for you to carry the box with all your valuables inside or not.

3. Position your items properly inside the box.

One of the most important pointers when packing is the position or placement of your items inside the box. Don’t ever think that you can place anything inside a certain box to make the process easier and you save time. This kind of mindset will even lead to more hassles and works in the end.

If you have heavy items, make sure to place them at the bottom of every box to avoid the damage of lighter items. Always put the lighter things at the top of the box. As much as possible, never leave empty spaces in your moving boxes. For gaps, fill them with items like clothing, towels, or packing paper. It will prevent the box from getting unbalanced or loose during the move.

4. Place labels on every box.

Labeling your boxes will help you a lot when moving. First, it will help you in keeping track of your boxes during the move. Second, it can help you with identifying which box to open first as you arrive at your new home. And lastly, it will be easier to determine which box should be placed in a specific room.

Packing will always be a part of moving. Be sure that you are doing it properly to make your moving plans smoother.
